Day 11 | Slow start, V&A, and Wicked

Considering we went to bed late, and spent all day yesterday on our feet, we slept in. By the time we got up and moving, and out and about, it was around 12:30 or 1:00. We headed to the Victoria & Albert Museum. We plan to use this as our filler over the next few days, since it is so big and free to get in. We spent around 4 hours there, and got through maybe a third of the museum, if we’re being generous.

The front entrance of the V&A Museum.

This is a really cool piece that is found in the iron works room.

This is Dave. He looks angry if you see him from the top. This is a life-size cast of the original, so it is 17 feet tall from the base.

Early example of child labour practices; forcing the children to carry the world on their shoulders.

We headed back home so that we could get ready for tonight’s show. We were due at the Apollo Victoria to see Wicked. Adam and I have now both read the book, yet we’re two of maybe a dozen people on the planet who haven’t seen the musical yet. We left early enough to get dinner before the show, as we learned from last night’s strategy that there wasn’t likely to be anything open after the show. Adam chose Taquitos Mexican Grill. Food was good again! We’ve generally had good luck with food this trip.

We passed Little Ben on our jaunt downtown.

The fancy lighting where Hamilton is being shown. Our theater was just down the road from this one.

Wicked was amazing! The costumes were fantastic, and the musical talents were top-notch. Adam and I both very much enjoyed ourselves.

This was part of the stage set-up, and was very cool when it was in action with lights and sound.

It was raining when we left, so we headed home then. We need to do some laundry tonight, but get to sleep in again tomorrow!

Total steps: 10,583

  1. Emily, your photos are really great…absolutely love the one of the ironworks – great designs! Of course all the other architecture shots are great as well. Kind of makes me want to add England to my bucket list. Thank you!
